First Electric Car Charge Points Installed at Olympic Sites

Work began today on a network of electric vehicle charge points to support the Olympic and Paralympics’ electric vehicle fleet, leaving a legacy for London drivers after the Games. The Mayor and Transport for London (TfL) are working in association with LOCOG and fellow London 2012 sustainability partners, EDF, GE and BMW, to install 120 charge points which will support a fleet of zero-emission electric vehicles set to be used during the London 2012 Games. After the sporting spectacular, the charge points will join the Source London network, already the UK’s largest charging network which will number 1,300 by 2013. The electric vehicle points are fast charging and will be able to fully charge a vehicle in as little as four hours. They will be initially used by one of the 160 Active E or 40 MINI E electric vehicles provided by BMW for…

Car lease price drop for Peugeot Ion and Citroen C-Zero Leasing

Citroen and Peugeot UK have both announced changes to their electric vehicle sales programs, including lowering the on-the-road prices of Peugeot’s iOn and Citroen’s C-ZERO to just £21,216, after the Government’s £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant. The effect of this price drop is reflected in Fleetdrive Electric’s new lease rate from £259 + VAT for the C-Zero. There will soon be a total of 23 dedicated EV Specialist Peugeot dealerships, and Citroen will extend their EV Specialist network from 11 to 21 dealers. Both manufacturers also expect to continue electric vehicle dealership and support networks as market acceptance of electric vehicles grows. Peugeot and Citroen’s electric vehicle ranges will grow at the beginning of 2013 with the introduction of a new electric Peugeot Partner van and the electric Citroen Berlingo. Both will qualify for the recently announced extension to the Government’s Plug-in Grant, with…

Electric car and van map shows over 2000 charge point positions

Since its launch last May,  Zap-Map has recorded over 2,000 charging points across 888 locations, and recorded a sharp increase in ‘fast’ chargers. You can find the Zap Map on www.fleetdrive-electric.com. In the past ten months, the number of UK charging points mapped on Zap-Map has increased from around 700 to over 2,000 points today. In this time the composition of the charging point network has changed substantially. Whereas initially nearly all the points were “slow” chargers using a standard 13 Amp supply (6-8 hours for a full charge), the majority of the new points being installed are ‘fast’ chargers using a 32 Amps supply (3-4 hours for a full charge). In addition to the 1,600 slow charging pints, over 400 ‘fast’ chargers have now been installed, with 35 ‘rapid’ chargers are also in place – these provide a direct current and typically provide…

Ampera – Our BIK Mistake

Apologies to all. I recently posted that the new Ampera has zero BIK for company car drivers which is incorrect. It is in fact 5% in the bracket 1-57g/km.

Renault zoe electric ze sets the pace for affordable EV lease

As expected the Renault Zoe made its production-ready debut  but with a surprise twist-it will cost from just £13,650 after a £5,000 Plug-in Car Grant is deducted-making it the most affordable and practical electric car we’ve seen yet. Designed from the ground-up as an electric car, Renault filed more than 60 patents during its development, with the finished model on display today showing no less than six ‘world premiere’ features designed to enhance range, connectivity and user-friendliness. One of the most notable of these premieres is the confirmed driving range of 130 miles per charged, as tested to NEDC standard. ‘New era of electric mobility’ The supermini model is the fourth and most highly anticipated of Renault’s electric Z.E range, developed in co-operation with Nissan. The Zoe, set to launch in 2013, will follow already-available Renault Kangoo Z.E and Fluence Z.E and the soon-to-launch…

We drive Kangoo ZE Electric Van + how you could save £300 a month using one in Central London

Finally I get to drive the Kangoo ZE van! We took a trip down to Renault headquarters in Maple Cross yesterday evening to grab a quick drive of th Kangoo and Fluence ZE ( more of that another day). I really liked how simple the controls were for this van – also load space is not affected at all by the battery pack – in fact this one even had a real spare wheel – a luxury these days.e I am a little concerned about the lack of eco mode like you get on the Leaf as this may lead to untrained drivers “burning off” charge at a higher than comfortable speed. We will have to wait for a longer test to confirm. Other than that I am very impressed. This is going to really work for many businesses and with the Battery lease costings…
