BMW set to take on Tesla Model 3 with new electric 3 series

News has come from publication Auto Express, which cites inside sources about the next generation BMW 3 Series due in 2018. We learn that the German automaker is working on an important platform update to introduce a large battery pack in the 3 Series. Auto Express reports: “The next-generation 3 Series, codenamed G20, gets a switch of chassis technology as the car leaves its existing platform and moves to an all-new architecture called CLAR, for Cluster Architecture. Following an initial 30-day trial period using Fleetdrive Electric’s flexi-lease service, Frosts Interior Plants have now replaced their diesel van with a new eco-friendly Nissan eNV200 electric van. The trial demonstrated that the electric van with it’s 80-mile battery range was perfectly viable for the business requirements of the London-based operations. Now operating with zero carbon-emissions, Frosts are benefiting from London Congestion Charge savings every day (as 100% electric vans are exempt), as well as on-going fuel savings.
