BVRLA kart race raises more than £5,000 for automotive charity BEN

The BVRLA’s leasing broker committee has raised more than £5,000 for automotive industry charity BEN through its annual Broker200 kart race. The race, which is in its fourth year, saw 20 teams from funders, leasing brokers, rental companies and vehicle manufacturers head to Daytona Milton Keynes last week. After two-and-a-half hours of competitive racing, Fleetdrive Management crossed the finish line in first place, ahead of Autodata by just 66 seconds. Rounding out the podium was the team from Fleet Assist, who completed 112 laps of the 1,100m international circuit. Mike Potter, BVRLA leasing broker committee chairman, said: “This year’s race was incredibly challenging. “We started on a damp track, had a light shower during qualifying and then again towards the end of the race. “It was fiercely competitive, but we were all there to raise money for BEN, and we’re glad we could help…

New and improved Tesla Model S available to order

Tesla has launched a facelifted version of the Model S, with improvements to range and charging times and new on-board technology. The updated versions feature a closed grille similar to the Model X SUV and compact executive Model 3, instead of the oval-shaped blank it had before, while the headlights feature scrolling indicators. There are improvements to the range for most models. The entry-level 70kWh battery now offers a range of 282 miles to a charge, or 292 miles with the dual-motor setup, compared to 260 and 275 miles in the old car. Increases are smaller for the 90D, which now offers 346 miles instead of 340 to a full charge, while the P90D is unchanged. New technology includes an air filtration system for the cabin, which almost eliminates harmful exhaust emissions, allergens, bacteria and contaminants, and a subzero weather package with four heated…

The Fleetdrive team are proud to be celebrating 21 years in the business. Established in 1994, our business has steadily grown as a result of repeat business and client recommendations. We are very grateful for this and would like to take this opportunity to say a big “thank you!” to all our customers for helping us reach this milestone. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our customers for their continued and loyal business. Our promise, in return, is to ensure we continue to offer the most up to date and impartial advice and never forget that the client’s best interests are at the forefront…

Renault ZOE range extends to 149 miles

Renault is to add a second model to the ZOE line-up later this year, featuring a new drivetrain offering a best-in-class range of 149 miles. The ZOE R240 will be sold alongside the existing model, recognising that there are two distinct user groups for its electric supermini. This new version is tailored for those who don’t need rapid charging ability for motorway trips. It uses a new drivetrain, previewed late last year, which features air cooling and improved packaging to reduce overall volume. The all-new motor produces the same power, yet consumes less energy as a result of improved electronic management, contributing to the longer range. Charging is optimised for urban drivers. Its new Chameleon charging system means it takes 10% less time to charge when connected to low output power supplies such as a domestic or workplace wallbox, improving flexibility when using inner-city…

Following the styling themes adopted at the front, there is a new licence plate trim and bumper with an integrated diffuser. In Europe, two new body colours will…

Tesla extends UK fast-charging network

Tesla has opened two new Supercharger locations, in London and Birmingham, providing free fast charging for owners of the Model S electric luxury car. Located at Hyatt Regency Hotels in Portman Square, London, and Bridge Street, Birmingham, the units offer an 80% charge in around half an hour – enough to travel around 200 miles without stopping in a Model S. Georg Ell, Tesla’s UK Country Director, said: ‘Both Hyatt Regency hotels offer a great base for Model S owners whilst charging. With everything from bars and restaurants through to business centres and gym facilities, there is plenty to keep you occupied for your 30 minute charge.’ Supercharging is included in the cost of the higher-capacity 85kW battery pack in the Model S, and the service is provided for free, for life. The site in Birmingham is the first outside London, and enables the…
